 Promoting Tolerance

    The free exchange of ideas should be encouraged to promote the discovery of the truth and enhance the faculties of individuals. In tolerating or permitting different views to challenge prevailing opinion, humans have argued that these ideas may be true, contain part of the truth, or in fact be true by themselves.

     Toleration and respect for a diversity of viewpoints is grounded in a practical analysis that stresses that we are all better off in allowing a diversity of opinions rather than in censoring them. 

    People have the freedom of speech and have the right to have any point of view they decide as well as want. Humans have to become aware of sensitivity in this aspect, meaning that some humans are going to say some hurtful things because of the freedom of speech but we all have to learn how to adapt to this lifestyle. 

    Hurtful statements can effect ones tolerance and proceed to make them shut down. A lot of people today have no filter and I truly feel bad for the people that are getting attacked by this tolerance, instead the need to build a tolerance level on how to deal with this freedom of speech aspect. 

    Humans have the right to basically say anything towards one another, so a lot of people must adapt and come up with fundamental tools on Promoting this tolerance. Adaptation to someone's culture can be sometimes a rude awakening.

    Some ways to learn how to promote tolerance include using positive comments to shape as well as reinforce someone's behavior. Teach them about new places, new things, new culture.      Other theories argue that the purpose of the First Amendment is to promote self-expression or to foster democracy.     Tolerance also suggests that the right to criticize public officials should be encouraged, even if some factual errors permeate the comments, such as in order to promote open and free inquiry. the belief that promoting expressive freedoms will make individuals and institutions more open to ideas than they would be otherwise. The origin of this idea can be traced to Mill’s essay is a defense of individual freedom over paternalism and of free thought over dogma and the tyranny of the majority.

    In conclusion, promoting tolerance is a significant theory that the United states addresses in the first amendment. This states that every human being can say basically anything towards another human being.
